Professional Faculty/Instructor development funds are given to members of the faculty of Oregon State University for the purpose of permitting and enabling recipients of such funds to keep current in their professional fields and improve upon their abilities to serve Oregon State University.
Funding will be awarded on a first-come basis. Multiple awards are granted within the available funds; however, the total number of awards will vary each year depending both on the number and size of request. To spread the funds throughout the academic year, $25,000 will be allotted to the first 6 months of the calendar year and an additional $25,000 to the following 6 months. Individuals may receive one award per 12-month period. Department heads, Directors, or equivalent, are not eligible for this award. Further, this is a “unit-matching” award: The amount of each award will be dependent upon the amount that will be matched by the department or unit. The amount requested of the professional faculty development funds should not exceed $1000.00.
Criteria for Use of Funds and for Award Selection
All funds must be used for purposes related to the professional improvement of the recipient. Applications for awards should include details of what is to be accomplished, its contributions to personal professional development, and to the improvement of Oregon State University. Funds will be awarded on the basis of potential for assisting the faculty member in professional development. The selection process will be managed by the Office of the Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs. Applications will be reviewed to determine if they meet the following guideline requirements:
Recipients of awards will be notified by the Office of Academic Affairs.
Applications received after award funds have been depleted will be invalid.
